Beginner Tips For Frozen Flame
Frozen Flame is a survival RPG that can be tough for new players, but these tips should prove invaluable for trying to stay alive.
Frozen Flame, a new game from developer Dreamside Interactive, combines open-world survival with action PRG elements to provide a unique gaming experience. In a land once governed by dragons, the players are called to the world as beings capable of harnessing primeval magic.
With a duty to cleanse the world, players are tasked to gather resources, engage in combat with malicious enemies, and discover secrets about ancient ancestors to plan their own path. The game offers tutorials for the first hour or two; however, a few other beginner tips may help people survive the world of Arcana.
Survival is key, and hoarding is necessary. As soon as players are dropped into Arcana, the first thing they should do is collect everything they see. Resource gathering and management is an integral part of any survival game, and whatever is glowing blue and isn't nailed down should be packed into the player's inventory.
This will contribute to putting the player in good stead for their first few quests. Stones, apples, branches, and the surrounding flora are in high demand and the player is the only method of supply. Plus, it keeps the player from having to constantly scour the environment for one more pesky ingredient when they are crafting items.
Survivability is determined by resource management, and players should ensure they track their inventory and equipment at all times. Even though this might sound counterintuitive to collecting everything, players need to make sure the character doesn't become encumbered by too much stuff.

Also, when out in the field gathering resources or taking on foes, the items in a player's inventory can lose durability. So make sure all equipment is well taken care of, and craft new items regularly. Attend to axes and the like, which can be repaired too. Max carry weight can be viewed on the inventory screen, and to view weapon durability, hover over the corresponding icon.
The skill tree system is where Frozen Flame brings together its survival open world with an RPG system, like a marriage made in adventuring heaven. The rock altars that pepper the game's landscape allows the player to spend the titular Frozen Flame.
The Skill Tree has three main branches to start: one for health, another for stamina, and the last for energy. Health and stamina are pretty self-explanatory and expected in this genre of games, but energy is something special in itself. Players should scour the skill tree before making a decision. See if there are any abilities that they deem vital, such as weapon mastery or movement skills like Double Jump.
Food is an adventurer's best friend and sole confidant. Like a college student fighting to get through day-to-day life, it provides comfort and appreciated bonuses.

In the first hours of the game, luminous apples are readily available and can be eaten raw for 3 health. However, once unlocked, the bonfire can help players cook meals that provide better effects. The humble apple fruit salad, for example, boosts health temporarily by 25 points and can even apply a regenerative effect.
Unlike real life, Frozen Flame suggests that players never confront things head-on. Avoiding danger is better than wading through it. In the first few hours, players will be running around as naked as the day they were born (except for some raggedy pants), and getting involved in skirmishes could prove fatal.
The dodge action is the player's best friend. It will help them skirt damage and stay out of precarious situations. Beginner enemies are susceptible to strafing, and a quick dodge will mean most incoming attacks can be avoided and punished with a quick counterstrike from any weapon.
Keep in mind that the dodge drains stamina (the green bar found at the bottom of the screen) as do attacks. Players may find it useful to perform a jump attack to do more damage; gravity is a great addition to an attack and can get players out of a tough spot by delivering a powerful blow.
Frozen Flame executes the thrills of the survival genre well, incentivizing exploration with the discovery of new items, resources, and secrets hidden from the well-walked paths. As per the genre, secrets are often hidden chests that can contain a variety of things, such as health potions and energy potions.

However, if there is no secret treasure chest, that does not mean there's no treasure to find. Players might discover parts of the world that reveal hidden pieces of lore that dive deeper into the background of Arcana, Frozen Flame's world. The game begs to be explored, and the open nature of the world encourages it. Any place seen on the map, players can likely travel to and uncover what lies in the nooks and crannies.
Once a player has been tasked with their first quests from an NPC, they will soon discover that they must craft a shelter. Before people go full interior designer and try to dress their home up like a mid-century showroom, it is better to go simple and standard. The shelter just needs a floor, four walls, and a roof that will act as a base of operations for now.
Shelters should contain a workbench, and a bonfire, and should ensure that a player stays safe from the weather as well as the enemies that become aggressive during the night. Later on, players will be able to live their log cabin fantasies, but for now just get a roof over the character's head.
Frozen Flame is out now Microsoft Windows.
