When players begin to explore the rich world of Dragon Quest 3 Remake, they will start to notice not only that the game has a full day and night cycle, but that a fair amount of content is only available at certain times of day. As you explore the towns and cities, various NPCs will mention that certain events only occur at night. What it doesn't explain well is how to go about moving the clock to any desired point. This guide will fully explain how players can change the time of day in Dragon Quest 3, and why that can be incredibly useful.
Akira Toriyama's distinct and instantly recognizable art style is responsible for one of the most iconic monsters in gaming, Dragon Quest's Slimes.
It is amazing to realize just how much content the original Dragon Quest 3 contained in such a small package. One of the ways it did this was by having a full day and night cycle, which allowed players to discover secrets based solely on time of day. Dragon Quest 3 Remake stays incredibly true to the original, fully utilizing its time cycle in several important ways.
While players could simply let time pass on foot, this would be impractical because several pieces of content can only be accessed at specific times of day. For that reason, the developers created a way of quickly passing time.
To change the time of day in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, players must head to one of the game's many Inns. These locations are marked by a sign with a white bed.
When you enter an Inn, there will always be an NPC at the front desk who asks the player whether they want to stay overnight or rest awhile. Remember, staying overnight will always result in you leaving the Inn the next morning. To pick a specific time, select rest awhile. This will bring up a menu with the following times available for you to select:
Select the time you'd like to wake up, changing the time of day in the process.
Resting at an Inn is not free. It will cost the same as staying overnight. Certain locations are more expensive than others, and as your party begins to level-up, it will cost more money to refill your health and MP.
Later in the game, players will unlock two two methods of chaning the time of day in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
There are several reasons to change the time of day in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. First, there are several monsters that can only be encountered at night. These are not the typical monsters you fight, but the monsters you will recruit to fight in the Monster Arena.
Another important reason for changing the time of day is related to several side-quests. There will be many times when players can only encounter certain characters, or certain solutions at night.
Finally, there are towns, merchants, and other NPCs that are only open or available at specific times of day. There is an entire town filled with stores and inhabitants that are only available at night. This is by no means everything. In fact, it is just scratching the surface. As you continue to explore, you will find more and more reasons to change the time of day.
