Hogwarts Legacy: Guide To Floo Flames
Floo Flames in Hogwarts Legacy lets players to fast travel from anywhere on the map. Check out our guide on how it works.
As Hogwarts Legacy players explore Hogwarts Castle and its surrounding areas, they will unlock Floo Flames and the use of Floo powder locations when they get close enough to a shrine. Floo Flames are the names of the fast-travel shrines while Floo Powder is an unlimited resource that wizards and witches will have at Hogwarts. Due to the fact that Hogwarts is a large, expansive map, Floo Flames, which is the game's fast travel system, becomes a vital element in doing missions, collecting resources, and pushing the narrative forward.

With gamers needing to manually unlock each of the Floo Flame locations, using the system may not be obvious at first. Also, several Floo Flame locations are behind locked doors and players will need to progress a certain amount in the game in order to access all fast travel areas. Whether finding them on foot, flying broom, or teleporting portkey, here's an easy guide to Floo Flames in Hogwarts Legacy.
Floo Flames is an interconnected system of what are essentially chimneys that allows players to fast travel to previously visited Floo Flame shrines. Players can unlock a Floo Flame for future fast travel simply by approaching a shrine and getting within a few feet. Once activated, the Floo Flame will light up with green flames and the talking statue of the Floo inventor Ignatia Wildsmith will often engage with the player, giving encouraging tips as they Floo by. With Fast Travel, players cannot be engaged in active combat if they want to use the Floo Flames to get around.
Once the Floo Flame location is unlocked, figuring out how to use the fast travel system isn't especially obvious. So here's how it works: as long as a player is physically within distance, they can use the Floo Flame system. Simply stand close to an unlocked shrine (the green flames will be an indicator), open the map of your current location, highlight another Floo Flame location that you want to fast travel to, and press the appropriate button, listed in the bottom right corner.
Not all Floo Flame locations will be available to players of Hogwarts Legacy at first. Due to the fact that players have to physically unlock each Floo Flame location, much of the map is not accessible until later in a play-through. Also, through flight or on foot, players will have to manually travel to the far reaches of the giant map in order to fast travel back to those locations in the future. So, it's not practical for wizards and witches to go exploring in distant lands unless they intend to unlock at least one Floo Flame in the area.
Otherwise, players risk having to manually travel to the same distant point multiple times, instead of fast traveling back in an instant. Aside from distant areas, there are huge areas that are off-limits (at least at first) such as the Forbidden Forrest, locked doors inside Hogwarts, and even a few hidden locations found through unpacking some sneaky wizard mysteries. Overall, players should make sure to keep an eye out at all times for the unlockable Floo Flames shrines, especially when they explore outside the castle.
