Cork drivers can claim free NCT as huge backlog continues

With long waits still commonplace for the NCT many drivers are still stuck with out-of-date certificates as they count down the days to an appointment months distant.

In April it was reported that drivers in Cork could be waiting up to 6 months for their test as the backlog has ballooned to over 41,000 appointments.

Now, there's good news for people who have been patiently waiting for their appointment as they may be able to get it free of charge!

According to the NCT's standards of customer service, the organisation "aims to ensure that the average lead time for an appointment at an individual NCT centre is less than or equal to 15 days".

In cases where a driver is left waiting for an appointment for over 28 days, they can get their NCT free of charge. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule.
